A carpet cleaner simply cannot work unless it is portable. It's true that a number of industrial pressure washers and other cleaning equipment can work fine as stationary units. But when it comes to carpet cleaners, if the model isnt portable and maneuverable then it isn't going to be very helpful in cleaning large stretches of carpet. Carpets often cover large areas of floor that require regular maintenance. And, a business or residential location most likely has multiple rooms or areas needing cleaning.

Pick Your Carpet

Portable or mobile carpet cleaners are essential for all kinds of carpet cleaning jobs. Depending on the kind of cleaning project and the amount of carpet that needs to be cleaned, the extent of the type of machine can vary. For instance, say that you are looking for a machine to maintain the carpet in your office or store. You don’t want to be lugging around a heavy piece of equipment. Your carpet cleaning equipment should be powerful, but should also be easy to maneuver and handle for cleaning.

In commercial or industrial areas, carpet cleaning applications are very different. For example, take the carpeting in a place like a casino where they cover huge spaces. Smaller commercial carpet cleaners aren't the best options since they are often too small to clean the area in a reasonable amount of time. For these cleaning jobs, it’s best to opt for a walk-behind box model carpet cleaner. These cover much more area and can clean large spaces in relatively lesser time. The walk-behind design makes these carpet cleaners easier to maneuver and many of them have extra fittings to clean corners and crevices.

Domestic, Commercial, Industrial

It's clear that no matter what kind of carpet cleaners you are looking for, portability and ease of use are prime factors to consider. However, there are other options that must be taken into account when selecting the right carpet cleaners for the job. For tough industrial and commercial cleaning, it's best to go with carpet cleaners that are heated. The use of hot water or steam temperatures increases the cleaning power of these machines by dissolving hardened deposits more readily than cold water. This allows even the toughest, most stubborn residues, to be extracted, making heated carpet cleaners the perfect tool to tackle tough cleaning jobs. These carpet cleaners should have a pressure rate of between 100 and 150 psi, an air flow of around 100 cfm and a water column lift of approximately 150 inches. Features like auto fill and auto dump make them convenient to use as well.

For lighter cleaning jobs in commercial areas or even at home, its best to go with carpet cleaners that have a pressure rate of around 60 psi. Non-heated machines may be able to handle lighter applications; however, commercial users may still opt for heated machines to effectively clean high-traffic areas. The water column lift can be about 80 to 100 inches while the air flow can be around 90 to 100 cfm.

The most important feature in any carpet cleaning machine is low-flow technology. Machines that use less water allow carpets to dry in as little as 1-6 hours. This greatly decreases the risk of mold or bacteria growth while increasing productivity by allowing business owners to begin operation shortly after cleaning.

When you are shopping for the right carpet cleaners for your domestic, commercial, or industrial needs, make sure to consider the types of applications you will face. Find a reputable supplier who will help you match the right power options to your needs. And, remember, mobility is key.
